Paycheck Calculator (US) 2.2.18

We developed Paycheck Calculator to address the common questions many individuals have about their paychecks. These questions include:

• What would my paycheck look like if I accepted a job with a yearly salary of X?
• How would my paycheck change if I received a raise of X dollars per hour?
• If I moved to a different city, how would it impact my paycheck?
• What would happen to my paycheck if I worked X hours of overtime this week?
• If I increased my 401k contribution by X percentage, how would it affect my paycheck?
• How would my paycheck be affected if I received a commission of X dollars this week?

We aimed to create a user-friendly app that could be easily accessed on a smartphone, saved previous calculations, and swiftly calculated deductions upon adjusting any single number.

In essence, the app solves the problem of determining one's take-home pay after taxes. It achieves this by utilizing IRS-provided formulas based on the 2020 tax brackets, while also incorporating additional factors such as social security, Medicare, and federal deductions.

Overtime is a common consideration for many individuals, who often wish to understand how their paychecks would be impacted by working additional hours on specific dates or even double-overtime. This app allows users to input these scenarios through simple and visible cards.

To enhance accuracy, the app includes various state-specific tax additions, which are automatically deducted after users select their location.

In addition to federal, social security, Medicare, and state taxes, the app provides options for custom deductions such as 401k contributions, HSA additions, child-care expenses, and more. Users can customize whether these deductions are taken pre-tax or post-tax.

Allowances can be a complex concept and are not widely known to be used in calculating net income. To address this, we have added a small slider that allows users to input any number from 0 to more than 10 allowances.

Lastly, the app enables users to include any type of extra income, whether it is pre-tax or post-tax. This includes tips, bonuses, commissions, or any other additional income based on performance. With this flexibility, users have the ability to fully customize their entire income.

All these inputs can be adjusted within yearly or hourly setups and can be calculated for various pay periods such as daily, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, quarterly, yearly, and more. The app displays all calculations in real-time on a single-page layout.
